Charcoal, fire, chrome — the developheat brand

2026-09-20 · design, brand

Every developer brand picks dark mode. We picked charcoal — not pure black, which crushes detail, but #141414, warm enough to sit with for hours.

The palette

The logo is a flame with a molten fire core wrapped in chrome blades. It reads at 16px in a favicon and at full-bleed on a hero. One mark, every surface.

The rules

  1. Fire is for action — buttons, links, prices.
  2. Chrome is for identity — the wordmark, the logo, display headings.
  3. Charcoal is for everything else. When in doubt, less chrome, more charcoal.

The merch follows the same rules: charcoal garments, fire-and-chrome print. If a design needs a fourth color, the design is wrong.
